Waterloo author Marion Roes is celebrating the launch of her first book, ‘Mennonite Funeral and Burial Traditions,’ with a launch on Thursday, May 23rd, from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Meet Marion, get your very own copy of her book, and maybe even enjoy a homemade chocolate chip cookie. The book launch takes place at Erb Street Mennonite Church, 131 Erb Street West, Waterloo.

Timea Eva Nagy is a human trafficking survivor, author, educator, inspirational speaker andone of the most recognized advocates against human trafficking in the world. She is the founder of Timea’s Cause, a corporation dedicated to the rehabilitation of sex slavery victims and to anti-trafficking education and training for the public, major banks, law enforcement teams and other front-line professionals. In partnership with Community Justice Initiatives (, Timea will be hosting a discussion about her book, ‘Out of the Shadows.’ Enjoy an evening with Timea on Tuesday, May 28th, from 7-9 p.m., at the Kitchener Public Library’s Central Branch.

Help us ‘Shoot Down CF’ at Flag Raiders indoor arena in Waterloo! We’re swapping paintballs for Nerf ammunition on Thursday, May 23rd, in support of the Farwell4Hire campaign. For a minimum $20 donation, you can enjoy an evening of all ages fun in support of Cystic Fibrosis. Join us starting at 6:00 p.m.!

Join the Libro Beechwood team on Friday May 24 for a BBQ to support Cystic Fibrosis Canada! The food will be served from 12:00 – 1:30 p.m. at Libro’s Beechwood Branch (420 Erb Street West).

It’s the most anticipated community BBQ of the summer! Join us on Saturday, May 25th, at Brady’s Meat and Deli in Waterloo, as we serve up Brady’s own wagyu beef burgers and wagyu hot dogs in support of Cystic Fibrosis research and Farwell4Hire. We’ll fire up the grill at 11:00 a.m. and continue until 2:00 p.m….or until the food is all gone! Get your burger or dog and a drink for just $5, with all proceeds going to CF research. You’ll also have the chance to win a brand new Broil King barbecue as well as other raffle prizes.

Join us for the 15th annual Walk to Make Cystic Fibrosis History on Sunday, May 26th, at Waterloo Park. Thousands of participants across Canada will unite at local community walk sites during CF awareness month to celebrate their fundraising efforts, while imagining a world without CF. Over 10,000 supporters, including volunteers, donors, partners and participants help support Cystic Fibrosis Canada’s mission; To end cystic fibrosis (CF). The funds raised at the walk are used to target world-class research and supporting and advocating for high-quality individualized CF care. Registration at Waterloo Park begins at 8:30 a.m. with opening ceremonies set for 10:00 a.m.
