OPP sergeant charged with obstruction of justice and breach of trust

GUELPH, Ont. – Provincial police say an officer who has been with the force for 29 years is facing charges.

OPP says an investigation into alleged wrongdoing by an officer began on June 5.

They say Sgt. Shawn Jones, currently serving at the Wellington County detachment, is charged with obstruction of justice and breach of trust.

Details of the accusations were not released.

Jones has been suspended with pay and is to appear in court in Guelph, on Aug. 28.
