Youth injured after fight near local high school

Waterloo Regional Police are investigating a fight near a local high school that sent one person to hospital.

It happened Thursday morning shortly after 11 a.m. in the Weber Street and Jackson Avenue area of Kitchener.

Staff at Eastwood Collegiate Institute called police about the altercation near the high school.

Police said it's believed two groups of students were engaged in a fight, involving a baseball bat. It's not clear if any other weapons were used.

A male youth was sent to hospital with minor injuries and police are asking any witnesses, or anyone with information, to contact them or Crime Stoppers.
