Waterloo Region-Guelph human trafficking team arrests Toronto-area man

In April 2021, the Joint Waterloo-Guelph Human Trafficking team commenced an investigation. It was alleged that the accused obtained sexual services from the victim and solicited the sexual services for monetary compensation. 

As a result of the investigation, a 24-year-old Greater Toronto Area male has been charged with the following offences:

  • Human trafficking 
  • Receiving material benefit
  • Obtain sexual services for consideration
  • Uttering threats
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Weapons dangerous
  • Fail to comply with release order

The victim has been provided with a safety plan and community resources as part of the Human Trafficking Crisis Intervention program.
