Waterloo man suffers serious injuries in fight

Waterloo Regional Police have made an arrest after a fight over the weekend put a 23-year-old Waterloo man in hospital.

The incident happened late Friday evening in the area of Westwood Drive and Westmount Road in Kitchener. Officers were called to a disturbance at a convenience store.

The victim was dropped off at a local hospital, then transferred to one outside of the region with serious injuries resulting from a cut.

Police later arrested a 31-year-old Guelph man. The accused has been charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
