Two men from region charged in separate child porn busts

One arrest was made in Kitchener, the other in Cambridge
computer crime

During April, 2019, Waterloo Regional Police received complaints from the National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre regarding a person uploading child pornography. 

As a result, investigators from the Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Cybercrime - Internet Child Exploitation Unit commenced an investigation. 

On June 20, 2019, members of the Service executed a search warrant at a residence in Cambridge. As a result of the investigation, a 49-year-old Cambridge male was arrested and charged with Possession of Child Pornography, and Making Child Pornography Available. 

The Waterloo Regional Police Service is a member of the Ontario Provincial Strategy to Protect Children from Sexual Abuse and Exploitation on the Internet. This project has been made possible by a grant from the Ministry of the Solicitor General.

During May, 2019, the Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Cybercrime - Internet Child Exploitation Unit, initiated an investigation into the making of child pornography over a social network. 

On June 19, 2019, members of the Service executed a search warrant at a Kitchener residence and arrested a 22-year-old Kitchener male. 

As a result of the investigation, and digital evidence recovered during the search, the male has been charged with Making Child Pornography, Distribution of Child Pornography and two counts of Possession of Child Pornography.
