Five people were arrested for impaired driving over the weekend in Guelph, including one who crashed his motorcycle while attempting to leave a licensed establishment.

Just before 3 p.m. Friday, police blocked Silvercreek Parkway North in the area of Woodlawn Road West due to a transport truck which was stuck and blocking the road. A short time later, a man attempted to drive his car between two cruisers which had their lights activated.

Officers approached the vehicle and detected a strong odour of alcoholic beverage on the driver’s breath. Police also located an empty vodka bottle in the console. Breath tests at the police station confirmed he had more than the legal limit of alcohol in his system.
