Stretch of Northfield Drive reopens in Woolwich (update)

By CityNews Kitchener Staff

A stretch of Northfield Drive East has reopened in Woolwich Township.

Northfield was closed between Scotch Line Road and Sugar Forest Place for several hours on Tuesday.

It followed a single-vehicle crash in the area at 9:10 a.m.

According to regional police, a dump truck that was loaded with gravel was travelling south bound on Northfield Drive when the driver lost control of their vehicle, striking a concrete bridge barrier.

That collision led to the dump truck flipping onto its side, spilling its load of gravel.

The driver of that dump truck was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Police note their investigation into the collision is still ongoing, and charges are pending. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 519-570-9777 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
