Road rage leads to street racing charges for two in Waterloo

By Luke Schulz

Two drivers are now facing street-racing charges following an alleged road rage incident in the Erb Street West and Avondale Avenue area of Waterloo.

Officers were conducting speed enforcement in that area on Thursday afternoon around 3:10 p.m. when they observed two vehicles travelling at a high rate of speed and driving aggressively, leading police to stop the involved drivers and conduct an investigation.

As a result of that investigation, a 39-year-old man from Kitchener and 19-year-old man from Hamilton were both charged with street racing, receiving a 30-day suspension and 14-day vehicle impoundment.

The 19-year-old from Hamilton is also said to have blown an alert on an approved screening device, receiving an additional three-day driver's license suspension.
