Police seize semi-automatic firearm, ammunition as part of shooting investigation

Police have provided an update to a shooting investigation in Kitchener from over the weekend.

During a search warrant on Sunday, police seized a semi-automatic firearm and ammunition from an address in relation to the shooting.

The shooting happened around 11:30 a.m. on Saturday at a residence on Linden Avenue.

A 38-year-old man was located with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital outside of the region with serious injuries.

Police later arrested a 52-year-old Kitchener man. The accused is charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, weapons dangerous, as well as a number of firearm related offences. 

Investigators also believe it was a targeted incident.
