Around 2:30 a.m. Sunday, police were called to Fairway Road South, where they found a man with serious injuries lying behind a taxi.

He was transported to hospital.

Police later determined he was the driver of the taxi and was involved in a verbal altercation, which resulted in him allegedly being assaulted by a fare.

Police have not released his name.

A GoFundMe has been set up for the cab driver, whose family says that he will need facial surgery.
