On June 13, 2019, at approximately 9 a.m., Waterloo Regional Police responded to a residence on Wedgewood Drive in Kitchener for a report of a stolen bicycle.

The complainant reported that his son had his premium BMX bike stolen on June 12, 2019.

As a result of the investigation, police located the bike and returned it to its rightful owner.

A 22-year-old female was arrested and charged with possession of stolen property under $5,000.

Waterloo Regional Police would like to remind cyclists of the Snap N' Save program, which encourages cyclists to take two photos: A photo with your bike. A photo of the bike’s serial number. This process will help police identify who the stolen bike may belong to, and return it to the rightful owner.

Other safety tips to consider: Do not leave your bike unattended. Always lock your bike to a solid object. Make sure that your lock cannot be cut. Lock your bike in a well-lit area with high foot traffic. Bring your bike in at night. If you are storing it in a garage or shed, ensure that it is closed and secure.
