Waterloo Regional Police are asking residents to spread messages of kindness ahead of Pink Shirt Day on February 22.

The 2023 theme is “Lift each other up.”

In addition to wearing pink, the #PostPositive campaign encourages residents to write down kind thoughts about someone, send a thoughtful e-mail, create a piece of art, or post a video.

You are asked to tag police on their social media channels -- Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Use the hashtag #PostPositive to possibly win a prize.

“On Pink Shirt Day, we encourage all residents to join together and celebrate diversity, inclusion, and acceptance for one another,” Police Chief, Mark Crowell said in a news release. “Let’s lift each other up, not only today, but every day. It is important that we stand together and recognize the ways in which we can make a difference in the lives of those around us.”

Teachers are also encouraged to get their classrooms involved. You can email publicinfo@wrps.on.ca to request some free pink post-it notes. You can also click here to download a PDF version.
