Police looking to identify possible witnesses in sexual assault investigation

By Blair Adams

Waterloo Regional Police are looking to identify three potential witnesses that were seen in the area of the latest sexual assault on a young girl.

They would like to speak with the three people who were seen driving or walking down Karn Street in Kitchener, around 8:15 p.m. on July 6 (pictures included in this story).

Those potential witnesses are asked to call police at 519-570-9777 ext. 8191.

That same night at around 8 o'clock, a four-year-old girl was playing in the area of 16 Brybeck Crescent, approached by a man in the common area of an apartment building and sexually assaulted.

Police believe the same suspect is responsible for two other sexual assaults on young girls, all have been linked via DNA.

The other two assaults happened in 2017 and 2013:

  • The evening of October 27, 2017, police say a six-year-old girl was sexually assaulted in an apartment building, located at 318 Patricia Avenue in Kitchener
  • A four-year-old girl was also sexually assaulted inside an apartment building, located at 429 Barrie Place in Waterloo. That happened on October 20, 2013 between the hours of 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.

The suspect is described as a white man, around 5 foot 10 with a medium build.

Police believe there could be more victims and are encouraging anyone with information to come forward.

Anyone who has any information is asked to call cops at 519-570-9777 ext. 8191 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
