Police investigating after fireworks cause ‘several fires’ in McLennan Park

Regional police are now looking to identify and speak to a man spotted lighting fireworks in Kitchener McLennan Park this weekend, after responding to reports of multiple fires in McLennan Park on Saturday.

According to police, emergency crews responded to the area of McLennan Park on Saturday around 12:00 p.m. as nearby residents reported seeing a man lighting off fireworks in the park, resulting in small fires in the surrounding dry grass. 

While Kitchener Fire were able to respond quickly and extinguish those fires, it's reported that police were unable to locate that man after searching the area. He's said to have left the area on a bicycle prior to the arrival of emergency crews. 

Anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have information that can assist police in identifying that man is being asked to contact them or Crime Stoppers.
