Police investigate assault with a weapon involving teenage girl

Regional police are investigating an assault with a weapon involving a teenage girl in Kitchener. 

Just after 11 p.m. on Friday, police responded to a report of an assault with a weapon in the area of Paulander Drive and Victoria Street. 

The male suspect allegedly struck a 17-year-old girl with a firearm before fleeing the area. 

The victim sustained minor injuries and was transported to hospital. 

The suspect and the victim are believed to be known to each other.
