Police find loaded gun following brief foot chase

By Blair Adams

A traffic stop that never materialized, turned into a foot chase, then police finding a loaded firearm.

The incident began around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the area of Weber Street East and Montgomery Road in Kitchener.

The vehicle, which police say did not stop, was later observed by officers, parked in a residential area on Montgomery.

As officers approached the vehicle, two occupants fled on foot, but were arrested following a brief foot chase.

Upon searching the vehicle, police found a loaded firearm.

Two male youths are facing a long list of charges including flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and possession of a prohibited firearm.

Both are being held for a bail hearing.
