A Waterloo Regional Police cruiser suffered extensive damage during a theft investigation.
It happened shortly after 11:30 p.m. Sunday in the area of Franklin Boulevard in Cambridge.
Police had responded to an attempted theft in progress at a business and upon their arrival, they say a pickup truck fled from a parking lot at a high rate of speed.
During an attempt to stop the vehicle, police allege the truck drove at an officer and that's when the cruiser was damaged.
The officer was not hurt.
The suspect vehicle was last spotted fleeing the area in downtown Hespeler.
Police say it will have damage to both sides and will be missing the passenger side mirror.
No other details about the truck have been released.
