Police believe convenience store robberies are connected (update)

Waterloo Regional Police believe a pair of convenience store robberies in the region Thursday are connected.

The first happened just before 8 p.m. According to police, a male suspect entered a store in the area of Fischer-Hallman Road and New Dundee Road in North Dumfries Township, armed with a knife.

The suspect demanded cash from the employee then fled. The employee was not injured.

Then shortly after 9 p.m., there was a robbery at a convenience store in the area of Victoria Street North and Shantz Station Road in Woolwich Township.

Again, the suspect had a knife, and demanded cash from the employee. The suspect then fled. The employee also did not suffer any physical injuries.

The suspect in both robberies has been described as a white male, approximately 5’10”, with an average build.

Guelph Police are also investigating a knifepoint robbery that occurred Thursday around 6:30 p.m. at a business in the Edinburgh Road and College Avenue area.

The suspect is described as being a white male, 5'10'', with a medium build, and was wearing a black Reebok sweater with white writing, a red undershirt, black pants, black shoes, a mask and sunglasses.

Waterloo Regional Police confirmed they are working with Guelph Police as part of the ongoing investigation.
