It's already been a devastating year for overdoses in Waterloo Region.
Waterloo Regional Police have released further details regarding the number of overdoses so far in 2019.
They say there were 75 in January, 106 in February, and 93 in March – with a total of 20 resulting in fatalities.
The City of Kitchener continues to be impacted the most, accounting for 117 of the overdoses and 10 deaths.
While these numbers are not opioid specific, the news comes after Kitchener city council approved a proposed Consumption and Treatment Services site on Duke Street West.
Last year, there were 53 suspected overdose related deaths locally, with 86 reported in 2017.
