OPP issue street racing charges to four tow truck drivers on WB 401

By Luke Schulz

A strange act of unsafe driving behaviour has drawn serious attention on social media after the OPP’s Highway Safety Division posted a notice on Twitter of street racing charges issued over the weekend.

According to provincial police, the drivers of four tow trucks are now facing charges after being observed racing each other on in the west bound lanes of the 401 near Highway 25 in Milton.

OPP note that those tow truck drivers were seen driving on the shoulder of the highway, passing other vehicles dangerously and making unsafe lane changes before being intercepted by the OPP Highway Enforcement Team.

Those four drivers now face charges of street racing, as well as a 14-day vehicle impoundment and seven-day license suspension under the Moving Ontarians More Safely Act.
