Male suffers serious injuries in Kitchener stabbing (update)

A Toronto man is facing several charges after a stabbing in downtown Kitchener.

Police responded to a business, in the area of King Street East and Madison Avenue North, around 12:30 p.m. Sunday.

Upon arrival, officers found a male with stab wounds. He was transported to a hospital outside the region with serious injuries. Originally police had said the victim's injuries were critical.

A 37-year-old man has been charged with assault with a weapon, aggravated assault, and possession of weapon for dangerous purpose.

Police also say the victim and accused are known to one another.
