By GuelphToday Staff

A Cambridge woman faces charges after an Uber driver and passenger were both assaulted early Friday, Guelph police report.

Approximately 2:30 a.m. two women were picked up from a business on Silvercreek Parkway South. During the drive, one of the women became upset with the other and began punching her. The driver stopped the vehicle to try to break up the assault and was struck several times in the face, causing him to start bleeding.

The suspect got out of the vehicle and fled on foot but was located by police and arrested a short distance away. Neither victim required medical attention.

The suspect provided a name and phone number which were determined to be fake. Investigation determined her true identity and that she was in breach of a conditional sentence order.

A 35-year-old Cambridge woman is charged with two counts of assault, obstructing police and breaching an order. She was held for a bail hearing Friday.
