It started with a call about a suspected impaired driver travelling through Cambridge on Friday evening.
Police attended the registered owner of the vehicle's residence in attempts to investigate the driving complainant.
They allege a man answered the door, holding a loaded firearm.
The suspect is facing charges including careless use of a firearm and operation of a motor vehicle while impaired.
Several firearms and ammunition were seized as well.
Police have not released his name.
