Kitchener man facing charges after fleeing police traffic stop

A Kitchener man is facing several charges after fleeing from a traffic stop in Waterloo. 

Police noticed a suspicious vehicle in the area of Northfield Drive West and Weber Street North on May 27 around 2:00 a.m. They recognized the vehicle from a previous incident on May 18, when the driver fled from police. 

Speeding, the driver took off quickly, until driving into a business parking lot in the area of Lincoln Road and Weber Street North, where he lost control and hit a Skyjack lift. 

No physical injuries were reported as a result of the incident. Police arrested the male driver and female passenger; the female was not charged. 

A 33-year-old Kitchener man is now facing the following charges: 

  • Dangerous operation of a vehicle
  • Flight from police
  • Two counts of disobeying a stop sign
  • Two counts of driving while suspended
  • Stunt driving 
  • No insurance 

The accused is scheduled to appear in court on July 8, 2022.
