Five vehicles damaged after attempted thefts in Waterloo, Cambridge

By Luke Schulz

Waterloo Regional Police have encouraged members of the public to report any suspicious activity or individuals immediately – following a series of attempted vehicle thefts in the tri-cities.

According to police, members of the service's Break, Enter and Vehicle Theft Team are investigating after an attempted theft incident at a car dealership in the King Street North area of Waterloo.

It was there on December 29 where five unknown suspects caused damage to the rear truck hatch of four vehicles, attempting to gain access to the vehicle wiring harness. Those efforts were unsuccessful as suspects attempted to steal four Range Rover vehicles.

Investigators have since released a photograph from surveillance of the vehicle they believe the suspects were travelling in.

More recently, during the overnight hour on Tuesday, a similar incident is said to have occurred in a residential driveway in an undisclosed area of Cambridge.

Police said an unknown suspect caused similar damage to the rear trunk hatch of a vehicle and were also unsuccessful in stealing the vehicle.

Anyone with information regarding the attempted theft incidents is being asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
