Federal offender caught in Cambridge

A man who was wanted by provincial and federal authorities has been detained in Cambridge. 

Derek Powell went at large on June 6, against the law.

He's been located and arrested by the repeat offender parole enforcement (R.O.P.E.) squad.

Police said Powell is under a long-term supervision order.

He served a seven-and-a-half-year sentence for:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Utter threats to cause death/harm
  • Forcible confinement
  • Assault of a peace officer 
  • Mischief in relation to property
  • Fail to comply with a probation order

The provincial R.O.P.E. squad thanked the public for assistance.
