Employee assaulted during robbery at Waterloo store

By CityNews Kitchener Staff

Regional police continue to investigate a robbery at a store in Waterloo.

The incident happened just before 11 p.m. Tuesday, in the area of Bridgeport Road East and Weber Street North.

A female suspect allegedly put merchandise in a bag, then attempted to leave through an emergency exit, without paying for the items.

In the parking lot, two employees attempted to prevent the suspect from leaving the scene. Then one employee was assaulted when a second female suspect emerged from a vehicle nearby.

The two suspects then fled the area in the same vehicle — a dark-coloured sedan — police say was driven by a male.

The employee that was assaulted did not suffer any physical injuries.

Anyone with information about the crime is encouraged to call police at 519-570-9777 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. Anonymous tips can also be submitted at www.waterloocrimestoppers.com.
