Driver charged in crash that killed Galt Country Club manager

Wellington OPP have charged an 80-year-old Guelph woman with careless driving causing death in relation to the Sept. 20, 2022 collision on Highway 6

Nearly five months after Galt Country Club general manager Brian Jolley was killed while riding his motorcycle north of Guelph, Wellington County OPP have laid charges against the 80-year-old driver they allege is responsible. 

On September 20, 2022, at approximately 8:45 p.m., officers responded to a serious collision at the intersection of Highway 6 and Wellington Road 38, north of Guelph. Initial reports indicated that a motorcycle and a sedan had collided and that there were serious injuries.

The operator of the motorcycle was pronounced deceased at scene. The operator of the sedan was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

As a result of the investigation, police charged a Guelph woman with careless driving causing death contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. 

The defendant is scheduled to appear before the provincial offences court in Guelph at a later date. 

Jolley, 47, was living in Fergus at the time of the crash.

He had been working at the Galt Country Club for three years.
