A driver has been charged following a two-vehicle crash in Waterloo on Thursday night that sent one person to hospital.

Police said the crash happened in the University Avenue and Phillip Street area around 6:30 p.m. as the driver of a Honda Civic allegedly made a sudden left turn at the intersection.

A Honda HR-V was travelling straight through the intersection and the driver reportedly swerved to avoid hitting the Civic.

Police said the HR-V mounted the curb, struck a boulder, flipped over, and came to rest against the exterior wall of a business on University Avenue.

The driver of the HR-V, a 30-year-old woman, was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Police have charged the driver of the Civic, a 27-year-old man, with making an unsafe turn.
