Charles Street reopens after collision involving pedestrian (update)

Emergency services are on-scene for a collision involving a pedestrian in Kitchener.

The collision occurred near Charles Street East and Eby Street on Saturday at 11:55 a.m.

Police believe a white Toyota SUV was travelling west on Charles St. when it struck a pedestrian on the north side of the roadway.

The pedestrian, a 35-year-old Waterloo man, was taken to a local hospital with serious non-life-threatening injuries. 

The driver of the motor vehicle, a 35-year-old Kitchener woman, did not sustain any physical injuries. 

Charles Street East was closed to westbound traffic for several hours for the investigation and has since reopened.

The investigation is ongoing and charges are anticipated.
