Body of missing man found

Waterloo Regional Police say the body of a missing Cambridge man has been pulled from a small body of water near Goddard Crescent in Cambridge.

The body was recovered around 10 a.m. on Tuesday by the Underwater Search and Recovery Unit of the Ontario Provincial Police.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post-mortem will also be done at a later date.

Foul play is not suspected, police believe the man's death was accidental or as a result of misadventure.

Police had been searching in that area since Monday after receiving a report about a missing person.

The man's vehicle was found in a parking lot off Goddard, plus police say evidence at the scene suggested that he may have wandered into a wooded area nearby.

There was also evidence that he may have entered the water and that's when the OPP's dive unit was called in.

Anyone who has any information is asked to call police at 519-570-9777 ext. 8643 or Crime Stoppers 1-800-222-8477.
