Alleged impaired driver plows into Hespeler Road McDonald’s

A 65-year-old Cambridge man is facing several charges, including impaired operation, after police say a Toyota SUV sped through the McDonalds drive-thru on Hespeler Road, struck another vehicle and slammed into the restaurant early Monday.

Waterloo Regional Police say the collision happened around 12:30 a.m. on Feb. 6 at the McDonalds at 416 Hespeler Road.

Police allege the driver of a Toyota SUV drove at a high rate of speed through the drive-thru, striking another vehicle and damaging the restaurant. 

The vehicle continued and ended on top of a snowbank. 

There were no physical injuries reported as a result of the collision. 

Police arrested the driver and charged him with operation while impaired, operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration, and dangerous driving

The accused is scheduled to appear in court on March 10.
