Welland erases early deficit to defeat Panthers

The Welland Jackfish erased an early deficit to beat the Kitchener Panthers 11-7 at Jack Couch Park on Wednesday evening.

Welland ended up scoring nine of the game's last 10 runs.

Justin Gideon and James Smibert each went 3-for-5 with a pair of home runs and three RBI for the Jackfish (27-10), which trailed 6-2 after the fourth and moved back into a first-place tie with London.

For Kitchener, Keegan Marsden hit two home runs and drove in three.

Tyler Lawrence took the loss, giving up four runs on three hits in 2.2 innings of relief.

The Panthers, now 14 and 22 on the season, are scheduled to host Hamilton at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
