Monet Chun will be planning a trip for Ottawa in late August.

The 21-year-old from Richmond Hill won the 108th Canadian Women's Amateur Championship on Friday afternoon at Westmount Golf and Country Club in Kitchener.

It was a close final round, as Chun entered the day with a six-shot lead. She fired an even-par 73 in Round 4, and ended up five-under for the tournament, two shots better that Alissa Xu, also from Richmond Hill, who ended the tournament three-under.

The victory earned Chun an exemption into this year's CP Women’s Open, with Round 1 scheduled for the Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club on August 25.

Ayr's Peyton Costabile finished tied for 13th at seven-over.
