The Kitchener Rangers have traded forward Declan McDonnell to the Barrie Colts.

In exchange, the Rangers will receive the rights to Hunter Brzustewicz, along with Barrie's 4th round pick in 2023, a conditional 2nd round pick in 2023, and a conditional 3rd round pick in 2025.

In addition to McDonnell, Barrie acquired a conditional 2nd round pick in 2025 from Kitchener, as well as a conditional 4th round pick in 2025.

In a statement, the Rangers said they wish Declan all the best with his new team.

"We wish Declan nothing but the best of luck in Barrie. This was an extremely difficult decision," General Manager and Head Coach, Mike McKenzie said. "Declan embodies what it means to be a Ranger and play Rangers hockey. We will miss him on and off the ice."
