Rangers blow third period lead in loss to Erie

By Blair Adams

Kitchener led 4-3 after two periods, but could not hold on for the win in Erie on Wednesday afternoon.

Chad Yetman scored two of Erie's three third period goals to give the Otters the 6-4 victory in their annual school day game.

Two of Kitchener's goals came from Jonathan Yantsis. He's now up to 16 on the season.

Rangers winger Chase Campbell says his team came out “flat” in the third period.

“You've got to give credit to Erie, they came out hard … they were determined, found a way to tie it up and just kept on going.” Campbell told 570 NEWS after the game.

Rangers Head Coach Jay McKee says the Otters had more effort.

“We had some guys, a couple key players take a couple key shifts off and it hurt us … It's unfortunate that you see some of your older players, in an important game like this, in the third period when things are … have been going very well, taking shifts off.” said McKee.

The Rangers, who have now lost two straight, host Saginaw on Friday.

You can listen to the game on 570 NEWS at 7 p.m.
