Parsons sensational for Blueshirts versus Firebirds

By CityNews Staff

A trip to the United States was just what the Kitchener Rangers needed. Or maybe it was Arber Xhekaj.

The big bruising defenceman made his return to the line-up, after serving a five-game suspension.

It didn't take him long to get reintegrated to the line-up. He had a goal, an assist, and a minor penalty in the first period.

The Rangers dominated the opening frame, and flipped the Firebirds 4-2.

Reid Valade led things offensively, with two goals and an assist, with his second three point night of the year.

Kitchener's Matt Sop had his first multi-point game of the year, notching a goal and an assist himself.

The Rangers penalty-kill was a perfect 5-for-5 against the 18th ranked Firebirds power play.

Jackson Parsons was sensational in goal, picking up his first win in four starts.

He made 40 saves, none more impressive than a sprawling stop in the third period, in a two-goal game.

Kitchener turns its attention to the Saginaw Spirit tonight, rounding out their three-game weekend.

Pregame begins at 5:00 p.m. with Mike Farwell and Chris Pope.
