Olympian Mandy Bujold teaming up with local hospitals

She's launched a monthly subscription box that will help support hospital foundations in the area

Olympic boxer Mandy Bujold is giving back to a community which offered her so much support throughout her boxing career.

The Kitchener boxer has launched a monthly subscription box --- Waterloo-Wellington Community Haul --- which will feature local products. A portion of the proceeds from each box that is sold will support the hospital foundations at St. Mary's General Hospital, Grand River Hospital and Cambridge Memorial Hospital.

"The unwavering support I received from the community allowed me to concentrate on my training and be the best boxer I could be," Bujold said in a news release.

"This allowed me to become an 11X Canadian champion, a 2X Pan Am Games gold medalist, and a 2X Olympian. Now that my boxing career is coming to an end, I want to do what I can to give back to the community that made me a champion in my sport. I want to invite you to join me in this fight for local."

Each box will contain five to six locally sourced and produced goods.

The local hospital foundations say they are grateful for the support. "This is a great initiative that supports local businesses, while ensuring exceptional healthcare is close to home." the hospital foundations said in a joint statement.

You can check out the Waterloo-Wellington Community Haul website for more information.

Bujold competed at the Olympics in 2016 and 2020 (but the games were held in 2021 due to the pandemic).
