Laurier picks up second win of OUA football season

While UW fell to 1 and 2 after a loss to McMaster

The football team at Wilfrid Laurier University improved to 2 and 1 on the season over the weekend.

The Golden Hawks picked up their second straight win in the GTA by defeating the York Lions 32-1 Saturday afternoon.

Laurier's offence didn't get going until the second quarter. The Golden Hawks would end the day with 402 total yards.

Quarterback Taylor Elgersma threw for 140 yards, had two touchdowns, plus an interception.

Laurier will host the 3 and 1 Ottawa Gee-Gees on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Meantime, the University of Waterloo dropped to 1 and 2, losing 43-0 to McMaster. The Warriors ended the day with just 160 total yards, picking up only nine first downs.

UW will head to London Saturday to face the 3 and 0 Western Mustangs.
