Kate McCrae Bristol has been appointed by Wilfrid Laurier University to be the university's acting director of athletics and recreation.
She began her one-year term on Monday.
McCrae Bristol will spend the first month working alongside Peter Baxter, who announced back in January that he will retire in April.
McCrae Bristol, a former student-athlete, also has experience coaching basketball at Laurier and the University of Waterloo. She also coached at Yale University and was a national sports program manager for Special Olympics Canada.
For the last three years, she has served as Laurier's dean of students at the Waterloo campus. Adam Lawrence, Laurier’s dean of students for the Brantford campus, will also oversee the Waterloo campus during her tenure as acting director of athletics and recreation.
Over the next year, Laurier will conduct a national search for a permanent director of athletics and recreation.
