Day 1 of the Kitchener Rangers pre-season showcase at The Aud was for the goaltenders.

Well, a couple of goalies at least.

First, the Saginaw Spirit shutout North Bay 3-0, with Cameron Lamour making 24 saves on 24 shots in the win.

And then in the nightcap, the hometown Rangers nabbed a 4-0 win over the QMJHL's Moncton Wildcats.

Jonathan Yantsis opened the scoring in the first, while Eric Guest, Riley Damiani and Isaac Langdon opened the floodgates with third period goals.

Luke Richardson made 13 saves before making way to Lucas Pfeil halfway through the second period to get in some playing time.

He held his ground the rest of the way for the East Avenue Blue, as the pair shared in the 32 save clean sheet.

The showcase continues today with the Wildcats facing off with the Battalion at 2:00 p.m.

And then at 7:00 p.m., Saginaw plays Kitchener.

Tickets are $5.00 a game or $10.00 for the weekend pass, with proceeds going to the Children's Wish Foundation.
