Golden Hawks thrash Gaels to move to 2-0

Make it four straight wins for the Laurier Golden Hawks over the Queen's Gaels.

Tristan Arndt was 24 for 30 with 313 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Golden Hawks (2-0) to a 44-18 drubbing of the Gaels (1-1) on Sunday.

Levondre Gordon added 120 yards on the ground and Kurleigh Gittens Jr. was Arndt's primary target with 178 receiving yards and a touchdown. Esson Hamilton, Ente Eguavoen and Brentyn Hall also caught TD passes.

Nate Hobbs, who remains winless behind centre against the Golden Hawks, was 20 for 40 with 222 yards. Rasheed Tucker and Hobbs ran in the Gaels' two scores.

Osayi Iginuan opened the scoring on a six-yard touchdown run at 11:47 in the first and Laurier never trailed again as they opened up a 13-0 lead after the quarter.

The Golden Hawks have made back-to-back appearances in the Yates Cup final against the Western Mustangs, winning in 2016.

The University of Waterloo also improved to 2 and 0 with a 41-18 victory over the University of Toronto on Saturday night.
