Elmira's Rank to represent Canada at tournament in Ireland

Garrett Rank and five others are heading to the World Amateur Team Championship

Elmira's Garrett Rank is one of six golfers who will represent Canada at the 2018 World Amateur Team Championship.

The men's portion of the tournament starts September 5, while the women open play this Wednesday.

Rank, who is also a National Hockey League referee, won the Ontario Men’s Amateur Championship this year and finished third at the Canadian Men’s Amateur Championship, where he also earned low-Canadian honours.

The men's team also includes Hugo Bernard and Joey Savoie, who are both from Quebec.

The women's team is made up of Maddie Szeryk, of London, Calgary's Jaclyn Lee and Naomi Ko of B.C.

Szeryk previously competed at the Manulife LPGA Classic in Waterloo Region.

The tournament will be played at Carton House in Maynooth, Ireland.
