Cavell Johnson stepping away from KW Titans bench

By Mark Pare

The KW Titans are looking for a new head coach.

The team said Cavell Johnson is stepping away from the role because of other commitments, but will remain involved with the team.

In a release, team owner Leon Martin called Johnson an influential team member, coach, leader and true friend.

“During the changes and time away of the past two years, Cavell made the decision to remain a member of our community and establish roots,” he said. “Cavell and I developed a friendship that extended beyond the court and I look forward to that continued growth.”

“The connections he has made both personally and professionally have allowed him to create a future in the region. I thank him for his commitment to the success of the Titans and wish him continued success with the journey he has started in Waterloo Region.”

Johnson has been with the team since the inaugural season in 2016-17, starting off as a player before transitioning into the role of coaching.
