Youth charged in Shaun Yorke murder makes first court appearance

By Mark Pare

A young male appeared in a Kitchener court Monday morning to answer charges in connection to the death of Shaun Yorke, 45, at his home on Elm Ridge Drive in Kitchener.

His body was found July 8, and it was determined he died of a gunshot wound.

The youth, 17, was arrested Friday by Waterloo Regional Police and the accused cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

He faces charges of first-degree murder, as well as one count each of robbery with a restricted firearm and forcible confinement.

According to the Youth Criminal Justice Act, if convicted he could be serving up to ten years.

Two others were arrested earlier last week in relation to the case, and had court hearings.

Mowafag Saboon, 24, was arrested last Wednesday and faces a number of charges.  Kenneth Morrison, 27, of Kitchener was arrested Thursday.

Saboon will appear in court again this Thursday.  Morrison will appear Friday via video link.

Regional Police continue to investigate, and say more arrests are possible.
