Wilfrid Laurier University has announced it is being recognized as one of 'Canada's Top Employers for Young People' in 2020.
On Friday, Jan. 17th, Mediacorp Canada Inc. revealed the names of 100 organizations across Canada who have been chosen for their efforts to attract and retain young workers.
According to a press release from the university, these efforts include offering benefits like tuition assistance, mentorship and training programs, flexible work options and paid personal days off.
Laurier is one of two post-secondary institutions to make the list for its benefits, including paid vacation time for new employees and tuition subsidies for continuing education.
Laurier president and vice-chancellor, Deborah MacLatchy, says young people are the future for their university.
"Their energy, knowledge and passion for innovation create a dynamic learning environment for our students." says MacLatchy, "It's critical for us to continue to invest in all long-term advancement and well-being for our employees by supporting their ongoing professional development and respecting their work-life balance."
Pamela Cant, chief resources and equity officer at Laurier, says this award also reflects the university's commitment to evolve to meet the changing needs of their employers.
"We are listening to our younger colleagues and their insights are inspiring positive developments for Laurier employees of all ages." says Cant.
