Completing the park circuit in Waterloo Park has received the go ahead from city council.
The project will cost $2.6 million. Construction is slated to start in February and be completed later this year.
A large part of the trail already exists in the eastern part of the park. This project will form the other half of the interior perimeter walkway in Waterloo Park West.
"The Park Circuit will provide a formalized, multi-use loop around Waterloo Park West that currently does not exist. It will reinforce the east-west connections through the park, specifically by connecting back to the Central Promenade and the Waterloo Park East trail system." said a news release from the city.
The city says it also means park visitors can be physically closer to Laurel Creek and connect with the natural environment. It's currently only accessible through informal routes and desire lines.
