Tour of Waterloo’s ‘Rainbow History’ set for Pride Month

By Erin Anderson

June marks Pride Month and one upcoming event looks to shine a light on some local history.

The City of Waterloo Museum, the University of Waterloo's Glow Centre, and SPECTRUM are involved in 'Waterloo's Rainbow History: 50 Years of Glow'.

The walking tour is set for June 6 at UW's Waterloo campus to mark the Glow Centre's 50th anniversary.

A post online said, “This means the tour will look at the origins of Waterloo University's Gay Liberation Movement (WUGLM) in the 1970s and conclude with today's Glow Centre, the current iteration of WUGLM. Throughout the tour, the history of this important institution as the longest-lived LGBTQ2S+ group on a Canadian university campus will be explored.”

The tour is free and COVID-19 protocols will be in place. Pre-registration is required.
