Staffing shortages cause Kitchener GO Train cancellations

By Jonathan Strom

Metrolinx has announced multiple cancellations to GO trains travelling between the Kitchener GO Station and Toronto's Union Station.

The 7:15 a.m. train travelling from Kitchener to Toronto, and the 5:49 p.m. train leaving Union Station for Kitchener have both been cancelled for the rest of the week.

Both trains were first cancelled on Wednesday, and delays and cancellations on the line have occurred since Saturday.

The news comes as other sectors such as local hospitals are also dealing with staff shortages.

Metrolinx is attributing the cancellations to staff illnesses causing a shortage of crews.

The service recently advised that cancellations were a possibility this week on its website.
